Important Island Information - Shanti Rock Residence | Paradise Villas rental in Koh Phangan, Thailand

Important Island Information

Wildlife

Koh Phangan is a remote tropical island, and our property is surrounded by nature, so it is very likely that you will encounter some local wildlife during your stay.

The presence of insects is part of the natural tropical environment that surrounds both the property and the island in general. Occasional encounters with local wildlife are therefore unavoidable in Koh Phangan.

The most important thing to remember is that everything you may see is completely harmless.

Geckos

We do have little guests that occasionally visit our ceilings and help by eating moths and mosquitoes. They are called geckos.

At first sight, some visitors may be a little wary of geckos, but over time most come to appreciate that they are completely harmless. Geckos rarely venture far down from the ceiling and are most commonly seen around sunset, when mosquitoes begin to appear.

In Thailand, having a gecko in your home is considered a sign of good luck, and help keep insects away.

Mosquitoes

Koh Phangan, like all tropical islands, has its share of mosquitoes. Luckily, most of them are only active twice a day for short periods, usually around 7:00 AM–8:00 AM and 5:00 PM–7:00 PM.

Ants & Other Insects

Ants and small insects are unfortunately very common throughout Koh Phangan and may occasionally find their way indoors, despite our regular cleaning and prevention efforts.

To help minimize this, we kindly ask guests not to leave food or sugary drinks uncovered inside the villa or on the terrace.

If you notice ants or insects in your villa and would like assistance, please contact Reception before 5:00 PM so we can arrange for our housekeeping team to treat the area before the end of their shift.

Our villas are treated monthly by a professional pest control service, as is common practice for properties on the island. However, Koh Phangan remains a wild and natural environment, and unfortunately we cannot completely prevent the presence of insects, just as we cannot control the weather.

Thank you for your understanding and for embracing island life with us.

Island Infrastructure & Services Notice

By booking a stay at Shanti Rock Residence, you acknowledge that you are staying on a remote tropical island where infrastructure and services may differ from those in major islands or cities.

While we always do our best to ensure our guests’ comfort, occasional issues beyond our control may occur, including:

  • Power outages,
  • Wi-Fi / internet interruptions or slow connections,
  • Temporary water supply interruptions (the water supply system relies on electricity)
  • Plumbing or electrical issues

Our on-site team is available daily until 5:00 PM. After staff departure, certain technical issues or repairs may unfortunately not be able to be resolved until the following morning.

Please also note that island-wide or neighborhood-wide electricity and internet outages are the responsibility of local service providers, including Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) for electricity and local internet providers. These situations are entirely outside of our control, and we cannot be held responsible for service interruptions caused by third-party providers.

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility, which are part of the authentic island experience.
